Tasmania JackJumpers star Will Magnay is facing a one game suspension for “unduly rough play” against Cairns Taipans player Rob Edwards.

The incident occurred in the fourth quarter of Friday’s match between the Taipans and JackJumpers, where Magnay appeared to grab and push Edwards around the neck.

The NBL Game Review Panel has classified the incident as “intentional, low impact and high contact”, resulting in a one-game suspension or a $1,150 fine with an early plea.

The JackJumpers can either accept the suspension or appeal the decision.

Reports indicate Magnay will be available to play in Sunday’s clash at MyStateBank Arena in Hobart against Perth if he enters an early guilty plea.

The NBL initially reviewed the play during the game and ruled that Magnay had done nothing wrong, leaving many fans on social media perplexed.

The JackJumpers went on to lose the match 90-78.

Updated 9pm, Saturday October 5: The JackJumpers say Magnay has entered an early guilty plea.

“He will still play against the Perth Wildcats tomorrow afternoon,” the team confirmed.
