Jacqui Lambie has claimed the sixth and final Senate seat for Tasmania after a nail-biting preference count in the May 3 federal election.
The Australian Electoral Commission confirmed today that the incumbent senator edged out Labor’s Bailey Falls in a tightly contested race.

Lambie is expected to address the result later today.
She first entered the Senate in 2014 under the Palmer United Party banner before going on to launch her own Jacqui Lambie Network.
Labor’s Carol Brown, Liberal Claire Chandler and Richard Colbeck and the Greens’ Nick McKim have all been re-elected, securing their spots for another term.
