The latest crime and mystery show to be shot in Tasmania has begun filming around the south of the state.
‘The Survivors’, a Netflix production, is set in a seaside town and will feature several Tasmanian locations, including Dru Point Reserve in Margate.
“It’s a thrill to be able to shoot our next production among the rich, stunning landscapes of Tasmania for the very first time,” Netflix ANZ Director of Content Que Minh Luu said last month.
“We’re excited to join forces with Tony Ayres Productions, bringing Jane Harper’s acclaimed book ‘The Survivors’ to life as a gripping crime-mystery limited series that delves into the complex themes of unresolved grief through a uniquely Australian lens.”

‘The Survivors’ novel follows the life of Kieran Elliott, whose world is forever changed on a single day due to a reckless mistake.
“Kieran’s parents are struggling in a town where fortunes are forged by the sea. Between them all is his absent brother, Finn,” reads Harper’s synopsis.

“When a body is discovered on the beach, long-held secrets threaten to emerge. A sunken wreck, a missing girl and questions that have never washed away…”
This isn’t the first time Kingborough has been featured in film and television productions, with previous hit shows like ‘Deadloch’ also choosing the southern region as a filming location.
