Tasmanian Supreme Court Judge Gregory Geason has been found guilty of common assault and emotional abuse or intimidation following a hearing in the Hobart Magistrates Court, News Corp have reported.

The 63-year-old pleaded not guilty to both charges, which related to incidents involving a former partner that allegedly occurred over nine months in 2023.

The case was heard by Victorian Deputy Chief Magistrate Susan Wakeling, who was appointed after it was determined that no Tasmanian magistrate was available to preside over the case.

Geason is yet to face sentencing.

Tasmanian Labor Leader Dean Winter has called for Justice Geason to resign immediately.

“Let’s get this judge, this crooked judge, this disgraced judge, out of our judicial system.”

“He needs to vacate his position immediately, and if he doesn’t, the Parliament needs to act.”
