Tasmania’s Supreme Court has welcomed a new judge, with Kate Cuthbertson taking the Judicial Affirmation this week.
The ceremony at Government House was led by Governor Barbara Baker, who signed the Affirmation Book and presented Cuthbertson with the Letters Patent.
Newly-appointed Chief Justice Chris Shanahan and other Supreme Court judges were also there to congratulate their new colleague.
Cuthbertson, admitted to the bar in 1999, brings extensive legal experience, having worked with Malthouse Chambers and the Legal Aid Commission of Tasmania.
Most recently, she served as a judge in the Federal Circuit and Family Court.
She steps into the role left vacant by former Supreme Court Justice Gregory Geason, who resigned after being found guilty of assaulting his partner.
