‘Kick in the guts’: $20k lost as New Norfolk sport clubrooms raided by thieves

The New Norfolk Junior Football Club and Cricket Club are facing a major setback after a break-in at their Tynwald Park clubrooms on Sunday night.

The club say around $20,000 with of essential equipment was stolen, including two 75-inch TVs, a commercial coffee machine, a sound system, an iPad, point of sale system, cash and merchandise.

“They also took all of our canteen stock, chips, chocolates, and drinks” the club wrote.

“We are non-profit organisations that rely on fundraising to keep our doors open.”

“These stolen items were the result of years of hard work by our volunteers.”

The club is now appealing to the public for information that may assist in finding those responsible.

“Let’s show these low-lifes that they can’t get away with this.”

Derwent Valley Mayor Michelle Dracoulis said the attack on the hardworking community was “disgusting”.

“There is no excuse, and I look forward to those responsible being identified and prosecuted,” she said.

Anyone with information on the break-in or the stolen goods is asked to contact Police.
