Launceston children will see their Christmas artwork blown up into large banners across Brisbane Street Mall for the first time this year.
The City of Launceston’s Deck the Malls competition is back, with 15 winning entries from school-aged children to be displayed as banners throughout the festive season.
The competition is open to all children and young people across the city in two categories.
Kids aged up to Prep can enter category one, with all entries going on Christmas pole surrounds across the CBD.

15 will be randomly picked to win prize packs worth more than $150.
Category two covers Years 1 to 12. 15 winners will be chosen – five each from Years 1-4, 5-8 and 9-12 – to have their work turned into mall banners.

Winners also get prize packs including $50 Petrarch’s Book vouchers, family passes to the Aquatic Centre and waterslide passes.
Mayor Matthew Garwood said the competition had become a city tradition.
“The Deck the Malls art competition is one of those special traditions where kids get to see their work proudly displayed in the heart of our city,” he said.
“I can’t wait to see the imagination and festive spirit our young artists bring to life this year.”
Entries can be dropped at council facilities across the city or submitted online before October 17.
