A kitten named Abby has been freed after getting her head wedged in a window security screen at her Launceston home.
Owner Krista tried several times to rescue the trapped feline before calling the Tasmania Fire Service for help.
Crews from the Launceston Fire Brigade arrived to find what they jokingly described as a “real cat-astrophe”, with Abby’s head firmly stuck in the metal screen.
Firefighter Wooley carefully cut through the security screen to free the distressed kitten.

Abby was unharmed and quickly returned to her role as “queen of the home”, according to the fire service.
Station Officer Roger Brown said the team was thrilled with the outcome.

“They even got to compare whiskers afterwards,” he said, noting the rescue took place halfway through Movember.
The Tasmania Fire Service said the unusual callout was a reminder of the varied situations their crews are called to handle.
“While this isn’t the kind of emergency firefighters usually attend, it shows the skill (and a little purr-sistence) our crews bring to every call,” the service said.
