A “large aluminium section” of a jetty on Hobart’s eastern shore has been stolen overnight, forcing the local council to fence off the area until further notice.

The walkway section was taken from the Kangaroo Bay boat ramp sometime between Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14.

The section connected the floating jetty to the shore.

The Clarence City Council confirmed the theft in a social media post and asked the public for help.

“The jetty at the Kangaroo Bay boat ramp has unfortunately had to be closed due to the theft of a section of the walkway,” the council said.

‘Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”

The council said the jetty will remain closed until further notice.
