A significant registered burn-off in St Leonards has generated concern among locals, with many taking to social media after spotting flames and smoke rising into the sky.

The controlled burn, which began at 11:34am today on St Leonards Road, is being conducted by a private permit holder and is scheduled to continue until 10pm tonight.
The TFS confirmed the activity involves approximately 600 cubic metres.
