Large fire breaks out at old Burnie Pulp Mill

Emergency services are on the scene of a fire at the old pulp mill in Burnie, where a significant quantity of logs have reportedly gone up in flames.

Eye witnesses say the fire has been “going pretty badly” for at least half an hour.

Authorities say crews from Burnie, Somerset, Penguin and Stowport/Natone are in attendance.

A TFS spokesperson said firefighters found the log pile to be “well involved in fire” on arrival.
