A snake has startled group of fishers enjoying their afternoon on the water in northern Tasmania yesterday.
The group was on Lake Barrington on Thursday when they found themselves confronted with a large tiger snake attempting to board their boat.

According to Deloraine snake catcher Ben Hyde, the reptile was most likely seeking an opportunistic shortcut to reach the other side of the lake.
The fishers attempted to stop the snake, but it proved too quick and managed to slither on board and hide at the back of the boat.

Hyde said the encounter is the third documented this season where tiger snakes have attempted to infiltrate boats and kayaks in the area.
He advised people to be aware and vigilant when out on the water.
