A Launceston man’s Saturday night football viewing took an unexpected turn when he discovered he’d won more than $1.4 million in TattsLotto during the half-time break.
The northern Tasmanian was one of seven division one winners in the TattsLotto draw, with each taking home $1,428,571.43.
“I logged into The Lott app on Saturday night to check my ticket, just after half-time in the footy,” he told an official from The Lott.
“I thought that’s surprising! Nothing like that normally happens.”

The man said the life-changing discovery left him struggling to sleep that night.
“It was on and off. A lot of stuff was going through my head. You’re just that excited,” he said.

The fortunate winner already has plans for his win, with paying off his mortgage topping the list.
“Then you’ve got to work out the retirement factor. I was planning on working until retirement at 65, but now I can bring that forward,” he said.
“We’ll sit down with a financial advisor and make a plan. From here on in, it’s all about work-life balance and more time to enjoy life.”
