A Tasmanian lottery player is sitting on $2.5 million after Saturday’s TattsLotto draw, with officials still waiting for the mystery winner to check their ticket.
The winning ticket was sold at Racecourse Newsagency and Gifts in Launceston’s Centro shopping centre.
For owner Kristy Bannister, Saturday night brought unexpected excitement when The Lott emailed to confirm her store had sold a division one winner.
“I jumped off my couch at home in disbelief,” she said. “It makes our job worth every minute knowing how many lives we can change.”
Bannister, who took over the family business last November, said this was her first major win as owner.

“We will definitely be cracking open the champagne to celebrate our winner,” she said.
“We wish our winner all the happiness in the world, and we thank you for your support of our small family-run business. Enjoy your winnings with your loved ones.”
The mystery winner holds one of eight division one entries nationwide, each worth $2.5 million.
The winning numbers were 43, 6, 21, 10, 42 and 16, with supplementary numbers 23 and 36.
The Lott’s Matt Hart said the player was probably starting their week unaware their financial worries might now be over.

“We’re encouraging anybody who purchased a TattsLotto ticket from Racecourse Newsagency and Gifts to check their ticket as soon as possible,” he said.
This marks Tasmania’s 11th division one win this year, with prizes totalling more than $13 million – five of them in Launceston alone.
