24-year-old Launceston woman accused of stealing Mercedes, ramming police car during alleged reckless driving incident

A young Launceston woman is facing multiple charges following a police pursuit and alleged reckless driving incident in Mole Creek.

The 24-year-old is accused of being behind the wheel of a stolen red Mercedes when she evaded police on Mole Creek Road around 8:20pm on Wednesday.

The vehicle reportedly sped through Deloraine and Elizabeth Town, colliding with another car near Railton Road on the Bass Highway.

According to police, the woman then rammed a police vehicle before crashing into a boom gate on Dan Road in Elizabeth Town.

Authorities have charged the woman with several offences, including aggravated evading police, dangerous driving, motor vehicle theft, burglary and stealing.

She is also accused of driving without a licence.

The woman has been held in custody until her next appearance in the Launceston Magistrates Court on June 7.
