A partially collapsed power pole on The Esplanade in Campbell Town has left hundreds of Tasmanians without power as wild winds lash the state.

The fallen pole has forced authorities to warn residents to avoid the area until repairs can be safely completed.

Two separate outages are affecting Campbell Town and Lake Leake, with 141 and 86 customers respectively cut off.

TasNetworks is still investigating the cause of the first outage, but has confirmed the second was due to the downed pole.

Restoration times remain uncertain, with updates expected later this afternoon.

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for today, forecasting damaging winds of up to 110km/h right across Tasmania.

“We’ll try to fix any outages as quickly as possible,” TasNetworks said ahead of the incident.
