A learner driver has crashed a car down a bank on one of Hobart’s steepest streets during a driving lesson.
The incident on Mellifont Street in West Hobart was reported around 4pm on Thursday, after the learner left the road and came to a stop against a fence.

It is understood the training vehicle sustained some damage in the incident.
Both the driving instructor and the learner driver escaped uninjured.
Traffic was not impacted by the incident, police said.
The car was removed from the scene a short time later.
The intersection has been the scene of several crashes in recent years, including a Metro bus that became stuck on a guard rail in 2023.
