A learner motorcyclist is facing charges after allegedly reaching speeds more than double the legal limit on a Tasmanian highway.
Police intercepted the 39-year-old Ravenswood man on the Midland Highway near Devon Hills at approximately 6:15pm on Monday.
Officers allegedly clocked the blue Suzuki motorcycle travelling at the “excessive speed” of 170km/h.
The man has been charged with multiple traffic offences including exceeding 80km/h as a motorcycle learner licence holder.

Police have confiscated the motorcycle for 90 days as part of their response to the alleged dangerous riding.
The rider has been released on bail and is scheduled to appear before the Launceston Magistrates Court at a later date.
Authorities are now appealing for public assistance, requesting any witnesses or motorists with dash camera footage to come forward.
