Lenah Valley man charged after shooting in Herdsmans Cove

A 36-year-old Lenah Valley man has been charged after allegedly shooting another man in the leg during a dispute on Wednesday afternoon.

Police say the accused shot a 42-year-old man with a homemade firearm during an altercation at a house in Herdsmans Cove.

The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at Royal Hobart Hospital. He later discharged himself from hospital.

Police arrested the accused man without incident.

Officers seized a firearm from a vehicle, which they believe was used in the shooting.

The two men are known to each other and police say this was an isolated incident.

The accused will face court.
