Liberal Party announces 35 candidates ahead of Tasmanian election

The Liberal Party has unveiled its team of 35 candidates for the upcoming state election next month.

Premier Jeremy Rockliff introduced the team, which includes veteran senator Eric Abetz, former state government minister Jacquie Petrusma and Variety CEO Mohammad Aldergham, on Tuesday.

Other notable names include Deputy Mayor of Burnie Giovanna Simpson for Braddon and radio broadcaster Rob Fairs for Bass.

Rockliff claims his team possesses the ideal mix of diversity and experience to secure the 18 seats required for a majority government.

“To deliver our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, we need good and capable people and today I’m so proud and excited to be unveiling our Strong Team,” he said.

“On any objective assessment, it is a fantastic team. It is the Tasmanian Liberal Party’s “Team of the Decade”.”
