Launceston Airport’s departure lounge is getting a major upgrade, with a multi-million-dollar transformation set to bring new food options and more seating for travellers.
The redevelopment is the biggest in decades and will expand the departure hall to create extra space and a better passenger experience.
It will see the Launceston Store expanded and three fresh dining options, Gatty’s Bar and Kitchen, Kanamaluka Café and Liv Eat, open.
“This will be the biggest renovation of our terminal in almost 20 years and marks a new chapter in Launceston Airport’s history,” CEO Shane O’Hare said.

“Working closely with renowned Tasmanian architects Cumulus, everything about these works, from the names of our bars and cafés to the materials and colours on the walls, has been planned to reflect the beauty and history of Tassie.”
The improvements are part of a larger airport redevelopment that began with the recent $14 million check-in and security screening overhaul and will continue next year in the arrivals hall.

“When finished this will be a truly world-class departures experience,” O’Hare said.
National food and beverage operator SSP says the new venues have been handpicked to highlight outstanding hospitality and celebrate local producers.
Regional Managing Director Dominic Cain said travellers can expect an “authentic and unforgettable taste of the region”.
“These new venues will ensure every traveller gets a true taste of Tasmania before they depart,” he said.
