The director of Tasmania’s Environment Protection Authority will leave his role next year after nearly four decades with the state government.
Wes Ford will retire in March 2025, having held the top job at the EPA since 2014 and working in environmental regulation for the past 39 years.
Premier Jeremy Rockliff thanked Ford for his service, saying he had served “many governments with integrity, commitment and foresight”.
“Mr Ford has played a significant role in Tasmania’s environmental regulation over many decades, including through complex and contested areas, such water reforms and developing and implementing regulatory models for finfish farming as new industries emerged and expanded,” he said.
“I would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Mr Ford for his service to the Tasmanian Government and the broader community.”
“Mr Ford’s commitment to the Tasmanian State Service has been marked by an unwavering dedication to Tasmania’s environment and its people.”
“Tasmania is fortunate to have benefited from his significant expertise.”
“I wish him the very best has he now moves into his well-earned retirement.”
