A Hobart boutique specialising in luxury second-hand goods has fallen victim to a brazen break-in, with thieves allegedly using axes to smash their way into the CBD store.
Mismo Cielo on Murray Street was broken into at around 2am on Sunday, with the culprits making off with several high-value items, including two Rolex watches.
The devastated owners took to Instagram to share photos of the aftermath, showing shattered windows and smashed display cabinets.
“They smashed their way inside and left behind damage and deep sadness,” the post read.

“Among the items taken were some very special pieces close to our hearts.”
The robbery has not only cost the boutique valuable stock but has also left them facing significant repair bills.

Despite the setback, the owners have reassured customers they plan to be back up and running soon.
“After a deep breath, a big clean-up and some repair… we’ll be reopening on Wednesday,” they said.
The boutique, which occupies the site of the former Victoria Tavern, specialises in pre-owned designer bags, jewellery, watches, clothing and accessories.
In a statement to Pulse, a Tasmania Police spokesperson said entry was gained “by smashing a security door and a glass front door”.

Officers are working to determine whether a nearby car fire is linked to the incident.
“Detectives are calling for any members of the public who observed the break-in or suspicious activity in Murray Street or Collins Street – where a stolen vehicle was set on fire – to contact police or Crime Stoppers,” the spokesperson said.
