A new roundabout on the Channel Highway at Huntingfield is set to open to traffic this coming Monday.
Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Michael Ferguson says the roundabout is part of a multimillion-dollar series of road upgrades in the area.
From tomorrow, traffic will be redirected onto the roundabout while work continues on a new slip lane connecting the Channel Highway with the Kingston Bypass.
“Construction work on the new slip lane will continue between 7am and 6pm from Monday to Saturday until it is complete,” he said.
“A reduced speed limit will remain in place but there should be minimal delays for road users.”
The project is expected to be completed by late May, depending on weather conditions.
“Please keep to the posted speed limits and follow the direction of traffic controllers and signs,” Ferguson said.
“We appreciate your patience as we progress through the final stages for the new roundabout and slip lane.”
The nearby Kingston Bypass and Algona Road Roundabout will also receive upgrades in the coming years, thanks to a $60 million state government commitment.
These upgrades will include expanding a 3.5km section of the bypass from one lane each way to two lanes each way.
