Outspoken Tasmanian senator Jacqui Lambie has unveiled a bold “Make Australia Make Again” campaign to revitalise local manufacturing and create jobs.

In a provocative move, Lambie is selling MAMA caps made in China and emblazoned with the ironic message: “Not even this hat is made here.”

“We wish we could say these hats were Australian made, but we can’t. And that’s the problem,” Lambie’s website reads.

Lambie herself said Australia’s “over-reliance” on foreign imports has been a “disaster”.

“If we can make it here, we bloody well should,” she said.

“We’ve got the skills, the resources and the people to stand on our own two feet, yet too many of our industries have been gutted by dodgy trade deals and big corporations offshoring jobs.”

The campaign focuses on strengthening local production capabilities, investing in skilled trades education and imposing stricter laws on offshoring practices.

“If big companies think they can take government handouts and then ship Aussie jobs overseas, they’ve got another thing coming,” Lambie said.

“We need policies that reward businesses doing the right thing and penalise those that don’t.”
