The man accused of murdering 14-year-old Tasmanian teenager Shyanne-Lee Tatnell has changed his defence lawyer, the Supreme Court has heard.

Christopher Mark Jordan, 39, appeared via videolink from Risdon Prison on Friday.

He told Justice Kate Cuthbertson he had engaged Hobart senior counsel Greg Barns SC to take over his case.

Jordan had previously been represented by Devonport lawyer Greg Richardson.

He blamed his former lawyer and prosecutors for delays in the case, saying evidence should have been handed over last year.

Defence counsel Mark Doyle confirmed the change was underway and new paperwork was being lodged.

Justice Cuthbertson noted there had been hold-ups obtaining transcripts from earlier court hearings.

A crown prosecutor said an indictment would be filed as soon as possible.

The Burnie teenager was last seen walking across Launceston’s Henry Street bridge at about 8:30pm on April 30, 2023.

Her remains were found nearly three months later in bushland near Nabowla, about 16 kilometres west of Scottsdale.

Jordan was arrested in late July 2023. He has pleaded not guilty to murder.

Jordan was remanded in custody and is due back in court on April 2.
