Man allegedly armed with 3D-printed gun arrested in southern Tasmania

A man allegedly armed with a 3D-printed firearm was arrested by police in Claremont on Tuesday afternoon.

The 37-year-old Bridgewater man was taken into custody at a business by officers including specialist resources, police said on Wednesday.

He now faces 25 charges relating to burglaries, firearms offences, aggravated assault and dangerous driving.

The man is wanted in connection with a string of alleged business break-ins in Campbell Town and Ross in the Northern Midlands.

He is also sought over alleged evade police and dangerous driving offences, as well as possession of prohibited and unregistered firearms.

Police have seized a stolen motorcycle and two vehicles as part of the investigation.

The man appeared in court on Wednesday and has been remanded in custody.

A second man, a 27-year-old from Granton, was arrested at Granton on Wednesday morning.

He faces multiple charges including burglary, stealing and firearms possession and has been detained ahead of his court appearance.
