Man allegedly shot in leg as police hunt two suspects in Rokeby

Updated 3:45pm, Wednesday: Police have arrested two people following a reported shooting in Rokeby overnight.

A 17-year-old and an 18-year-old were taken into custody in the south of the state this afternoon.

Police said both were arrested separately and remain in custody. They are assisting with inquiries, police said.

Earlier: A man is recovering in hospital after he was allegedly shot in the leg during an incident in Rokeby on Tuesday night.

Police were called to Hart Place shortly before 8:30pm after reports a man had been shot.

He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Two young males allegedly fled the scene on foot in the direction of Burtonia Street and remain on the run.

A crime scene was declared and police began searching the area.

Tasmania Police said the suspects had not been located as of Wednesday morning.

“Initial inquiries indicate the broader community is not at risk,” police said.

The circumstances surrounding the alleged shooting remain under investigation by South East CIB.

Police have not released details about what allegedly led to the incident or whether the victim knew the suspects.
