A man has been arrested following an alleged armed robbery on a bus in Launceston’s CBD today.
Police apprehended the suspect shortly after he allegedly threatened a bus driver with what appeared to be a firearm and stole cash.
The incident occurred just before 1.50pm when the man reportedly confronted the driver while brandishing what was later confirmed to be an imitation firearm.
After demanding and receiving money, the suspect fled the scene on foot but was quickly located and taken into custody by responding officers.

Police confirmed they recovered both the fake weapon and the stolen cash during the arrest.
The bus driver was not physically injured during the confrontation, according to police.

Authorities described the incident as isolated and confirmed there was no ongoing threat to the public.
