A 44-year-old southern Tasmanian man has been charged with multiple counts of aggravated assault against police following an armed standoff at a residential property over the weekend.
The man, who has been remanded in custody, faces six charges after the two-hour incident in Clarendon Vale on Saturday.
Police were called to a unit on Mockridge Road around 11:45am following reports of an armed man at the premises.
Uniformed officers and specialist police units attended the scene, establishing a safety perimeter that required the closure of Mockridge Road for approximately two hours while negotiations were underway.

The situation was resolved when the man was taken into custody at approximately 1:15pm.
Tasmania Police confirmed no injuries were reported during the incident.

“The man has been remanded in custody as investigations continue,” a police spokesperson said.
