A man has been charged after police allegedly found half a kilogram of methylamphetamine in a parcel intercepted in northern Tasmania.
The 38-year-old from Underwood, just north of Launceston, is facing charges of trafficking a controlled substance and attempting to unlawfully import one, police said.

Specialist officers intercepted the parcel, which had allegedly been sent from Victoria to Tasmania, at Pipers River on Monday.
The man was later arrested and has been remanded in custody ahead of a court appearance.
“The methylamphetamine seized was approximately 500 grams and had the potential to cause significant harm to the Tasmanian community,” police said.
