A man has been charged with murder after a woman’s body was found at a home on Hobart’s eastern shore.
Police were called to the Akuna Street property at Rosny Hill around 2:30pm on Friday for a welfare check.
Officers discovered the woman’s body inside the residence.
A 33-year-old man was arrested within hours and charged with one count of murder later that night.

He will appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court on Saturday afternoon.
Police initially treated the death as suspicious before laying the murder charge.

Detective from the South East Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) declared a crime scene at the property and commenced their investigation.
The man, who has no fixed address, remained in custody following his arrest.
Authorities have not released details about the victim or disclosed any relationship between her and the accused.
Police have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
