A man has died and another has been injured after a stabbing on Hobart’s waterfront overnight, with police searching for several suspects over the alleged late-night attack.
Emergency services were called to a Morrison Street car park in Salamanca around midnight on Saturday following reports of a fight between two groups of people.

Two men were allegedly stabbed during the confrontation, police said.
A 20-year-old man died from his injuries, while a 23-year-old man remains in hospital with non-life-threatening wounds.
A 20-year-old man is in police custody assisting with inquiries, but detectives are still working to locate others believed to have been involved.

Tasmania Police said the alleged attack appeared to be targeted rather than random.
“At this stage in the ongoing investigation, it is believed this was an isolated incident potentially linked to a previous incident which involved a person from each group,” police said.

Investigators are pursuing several lines of inquiry as they work to piece together what led to the fatal confrontation.
