A diver has died after a long weekend incident in waters near Macquarie Heads on the West Coast.
Police said the 34-year-old man from Tasmania’s north was hookah diving when authorities were called to the remote beach just after 3pm on Friday.

Hookah diving involves an air compressor delivering air to the diver underwater through a long hose, allowing for longer dives.
They said the diver was unable to be resuscitated.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
