Man in custody after police pursuit through Hobart’s northern suburbs

A wanted man has been arrested at a Glenorchy petrol station following a motorcycle pursuit through Hobart’s northern suburbs today.

The 27-year-old man, who was wanted in relation to alleged family violence matters, was safely taken into custody at approximately 2.50pm while attempting to refuel his motorcycle.

Police allege the rider evaded officers earlier in the day in both Bridgewater and Berriedale areas, prompting a coordinated response that included the deployment of the Rescue Helicopter.

Inspector Ian Mathewson confirmed no injuries occurred during the incident, though investigations remain ongoing.

“The motorcycle was a blue Suzuki registration A688X, with the rider wearing black clothing with a black and white helmet,” Inspector Mathewson said.

“Police are urging anyone with information or dash cam footage relating to the blue Suzuki to contact Bridgewater Police on 131444.”

The man remains in custody while investigations continue.
