Man throws rocks and suitcase at cars, assaults people in Howrah rampage

A man has been arrested after allegedly hurling rocks and a suitcase at vehicles and assaulting multiple people during a disturbance in Howrah this afternoon.

Police received multiple reports of the incident on Howrah Road about 2pm on Friday, with damage to vehicles reported between Shoreline Drive, Clarence Street and Oceana Drive.

The man was also allegedly seen assaulting several people in the area during the rampage.

Investigators are now calling for witnesses to come forward, particularly anyone who was allegedly assaulted or had their vehicle damaged but hasn’t yet reported it to police.

Police are also seeking dash cam footage of a man riding a bicycle in the area between 1pm and 2pm on Friday.

“He was described as wearing a long sleeve shirt and shorts, however may have removed his shirt during the disturbance,” police said.

Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000.
