A farm six times bigger than the City of Hobart has hit the market in Tasmania’s Central Highlands, described as a slice of ‘pure, unbridled Tassie’.
With rolling pastures, native bushland, Hermitage Estate is located near the Waddamana hydro power station and has 38 km of frontage to the Shannon River & River Ouse.
The 4353 hectare property is so big, it’s been considered its own town since 1966.
Melbourne-based John Rose purchased the property in 1991, and it’s expected the farm could now sell for between 30 and 100 million dollars.
At the heart of the estate is a historic six-bedroom homestead dating back to 1822, featuring sandstone and timber floors, crackling fireplaces and Georgian-style windows.
The property also includes a historic hunting lodge originally designed for international guests with a passion for Tasmania’s great outdoors.
Hermitage comes fully equipped with a shearing shed, undercover sheep handling facilities, stockyards, stables, and an irrigation pivot.
The property is home to native wildlife and deer, making it a hunting ground during the buck and doe seasons.
Expressions of interest close on November 3.
