Tasmania’s north is gearing up for a massive weekend as thousands of music fans descend on Party in the Paddock.
The highly anticipated event opens today at Quercus Park, south-west of Launceston, with campers rolling in from 9am.
In past years, the influx of festival-goers has caused significant traffic delays, with cars backed up for kilometres as eager punters make their way to the site.
Tasmania Police had initially planned to close a section of the Midland Highway at 10am on Thursday for a crash investigation but have now postponed the closure.
“Motorists will be advised when the crash investigations will be carried out in due course,” police said following questions from Pulse.
The four-day festival boasts a lineup featuring Empire of the Sun, The Kooks and Oliver Tree, among many others.
Organisers have dubbed it one of the “biggest lineups in history” and promise a memorable weekend of live music and entertainment.
