Severe heatwave conditions are developing early in the week

A severe heatwave is forecast to sweep across parts of the state this week.

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a heatwave warning for all areas, with temperatures expected to reach the mid-30s.

“Severe heatwave conditions are developing early in the week, potentially easing towards the end of the week or into next weekend,” the Bureau said.

“Maximum temperatures in the mid-twenties to mid-thirties. Overnight minimum temperatures in the single digits to high teens.”

Temperatures are expected to reach a statewide high of 26 degrees in Launceston and Queenstown today.

Hobart will reach 21 degrees, Devonport 24 degrees and St Helens 19 degrees.

On Tuesday, Launceston will reach 28 degrees and Hobart 23 degrees.

New Norfolk will top 34 degrees on Wednesday, Launceston 30 degrees and Devonport 26.
