The Midland Highway at Conara will be closed for 30 minutes tonight as TasRail undertakes essential upgrades to a level crossing.
TasRail CEO Steven Dietrich says the work is necessary to repair the current access to the Fingal Line.

“If you’ve been travelling over it you can see some of the asphalt’s breaking away which is making it unsafe for the train,” he said.
“We’re working all through the night.”
All traffic will be stopped during the closure, which will begin at 11pm and last through to 11:30pm.
“Road users are asked to be particularly vigilant for vehicle and equipment movements in the area and to always obey traffic management signage and directions given by staff on site,” a spokesperson said.
