The Tasmania Football Club will close its founding membership program on New Year’s Eve, marking the end of a foundation phase that has attracted almost 215,000 supporters since the club’s launch last year.

The AFL’s 19th team announced on Tuesday that founding memberships will no longer be available after December 31, with a new tiered membership model to roll out in early 2026.

Tasmania’s founding membership proved a runaway success when the club officially launched on March 18, 2024.

More than 100,000 fans signed up within 24 hours of launch events held simultaneously across the state.

Founding members receive lifetime status, regular club updates, their names displayed at the club’s training and administration facility and a personalised membership pack.

The club is also re-releasing its foundation jumpers for a limited pre-order window and for the first time, they’ll be available in long sleeves.

Made by new apparel partner New Balance, orders placed before November 17 are expected to arrive before Christmas.

“When we launched in March last year, we knew that there was a lot of support for the club as we had been in communities across the island and interstate and we could feel it,” club ambassador Jack Riewoldt said.

“What happened next was so exciting, and what has been built over the last 18 months is incredible.”

Riewoldt said that by the end of the year, the foundation products would “never be able” to be purchased again.

“The end of these products really marks a significant milestone for the club. It shows our progress towards the next stage of our build,” he said.

“The journey we are on is so much bigger than football and we can feel that.”
