Tasmanian politicians and siblings David & Michelle O’Byrne have sadly confirmed the passing of their mother Colleen overnight.
“I can’t believe that the biggest and strongest of hearts no longer beats,” Michelle said in a social media post.

David thanked the “wonderful” ED, ICU and ward staff at the Launceston General Hospital, who he said were “simply magnificent” over the last few weeks.
He described her as a “protector” and a “fighter”.
“Our compass, our rock, our heart and soul, the pied piper of our life, the centre of our clan, the Matriarch of the north.”
Michelle and David’s father, Brian, passed away in 2021.
