Motorcyclist dies in crash on remote Chain of Lagoons bush track

A 24-year-old man has died after coming off his trail bike on a remote bush track near Chain of Lagoons on Tasmania’s east coast.

Emergency services were called to the Leeaberra Track about 4pm on Friday after the rider sustained critical head injuries in the crash.

The man died at the scene despite emergency response efforts.

Police said initial investigations showed the man was riding alone on Friday afternoon when the crash occurred near the southern end of the track’s intersection with Thompsons Marshes track.

“The man had been camping nearby with a group of people when he went off alone for a ride,” police said.

A member of his camping group found him a short time later.

Police said the crash site was located in difficult-to-access terrain, complicating emergency response efforts.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are continuing.
