Updated 5pm, Sunday: A 65-year-old motorcyclist has died following a head-on collision with a ute on the Tasman Highway near Triabunna.
Emergency services were called to the scene just north of Freestone Point Road around 11:15am on Sunday.
Police say the man, from southern Tasmania, was riding a Harley Davidson south when he collided with the vehicle.
He sustained critical injuries and died at the scene.
The driver of the ute, a 55-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital by ambulance.
The Tasman Highway was closed for about four hours while police investigated.
Police are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage to come forward.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
Earlier: A motorcyclist has been seriously injured in a collision with a 4WD on the Tasman Highway north of Triabunna this afternoon.
The crash has closed the highway in both directions north of Freestone Point Road, with police warning of “extensive delays”.
Police have established detours to manage traffic flow around the crash site.
Southbound motorists are being diverted via Lake Leake Highway, while northbound traffic is being redirected through Mud Walls Road.
Investigators are expected to examine the crash scene before the road can be cleared.
