Severe weather has forced airlines to cancel numerous domestic flights out of Sydney, with Tasmania-bound travellers also caught up in the disruptions.
Multiple evening flights to Hobart have been cancelled, including Jetstar’s 6:50pm JQ725 service and Virgin Australia’s 7:45pm VA1536 flight.
The return leg from Hobart to Sydney has also been affected, with Virgin Australia’s 8:25pm VA1537 service cancelled.
Travellers heading to or from Launceston have fared slightly better so far, with no cancellations reported.
However, Jetstar’s afternoon flight to Sydney, JQ750, is facing delays, with departure pushed back by more than an hour.

The Bureau of Meteorology has warned that Sydney’s coastal areas could be hit with wind gusts of up to 125km/h this afternoon and some suburbs could see as much as 120mm of rain in just six hours.
“The system is quite dynamic and quite vigorous, and we are expecting conditions to escalate through the afternoon,” weather bureau forecaster Gabrielle Woodhouse told reporters.
“This means that we have a greater flash-flood risk with potential for some fairly heavy falls to develop over a short period of time.”
Sydney Airport has been forced to operate on a single runway due to strong south-westerly winds, causing knock-on delays across the network.
Travellers are being urged to check with their airline for the latest updates before heading to the airport.
