“After 85 years of production, across three generations, National Pies’ owner Rob Gough has entered into a conditional agreement to sell the business to Patties Food Group,” Tebbutt told Pulse.

“This is subject to ACCC approval and provisions have been made for long-term production and employment in Tasmania should the sale go through.”

National Pies’ products are available in corner stores across Tasmania

Patties Food Group, the company behind Four’N Twenty and Herbert Adams pies, is a leading Australian producer of savoury and dessert products.

National Pies was founded in 1942 by Alfred Gough, a young apprentice butcher, and has since become a Tasmanian icon.

The company has been passed down through three generations

The company’s pies are available in almost every corner store, school canteen, sporting club and service station across the state and are now sold nationally.

Tasmanian Bakeries (trading as National Pies) is currently majority owned by Robert David Alfred Gough of Sandy Bay.
