A JackJumpers player has been sanctioned following an incident during last Thursday night’s game against Cairns.
The National Basketball League Game Review Panel (GRP) confirmed on Monday that they had charged Will Magnay with “unduly rough play” during the game.
“The panel deemed the incident as intentional, medium impact and low contact,” the NBL said.
“The penalty for this classification is a one-game suspension, reduced to a $1550 fine with an early guilty plea.”
The incident left Magnay on the court of Hobart’s MyStateBank Arena, clutching his chest after receiving a blow to the ribs.
Cairns Taipans player Tahjere McCall was also sanctioned by the GRP for “unduly rough play” and described the incident as “careless, medium impact and low contact”.
“The penalty for this classification is a $1165 fine, reduced to $775 with an early guilty plea.”
Both teams now have the option to either accept the early guilty plea or appeal the GRP’s decision.
