Young people living on Hobart’s Eastern Shore will soon have easier access to mental health services with a new headspace centre set to open in Bellerive.
The facility, located at 12 Cambridge Road, will provide free support for mental health, physical and sexual health, work and study assistance, and help with alcohol and drug issues.
Funded by the Australian Government and commissioned by the Tasmanian Primary Health Network, the centre will be operated by EACH Social and Community Health.
Assistant federal Mental Health Minister Emma McBride said the new facility would make support more accessible for local youth.

“Alongside the new headspace on Hobart’s Eastern Shore, our government is expanding the headspace in Burnie and delivering a headspace Plus in Launceston,” she said.
Franklin MP Julie Collins said the new centre is incredibly important for the local community.

“It is vital for our community and its young people to be connected to mental health services when and where they need it,” Collins said.
“headspace Eastern Shore will provide early intervention and help reduce the long-term impacts of mental ill health on young people on the Eastern Shore – giving them the best possible chance to thrive.”
The new centre joins a national network of 172 headspace facilities, with plans to expand to 177 by 2026-27.
Young people seeking online support can also access eheadspace at www.headspace.org.au or by calling 1800 650 890.
