Enabling works for the new Burnie Courts Complex have been completed, clearing the way for construction to begin on the $86.5 million facility in Tasmania’s north west.
Local firm Batchelor Construction Group has finished demolition and site preparation at the 106 Wilson Street location, which sits adjacent to the Burnie Police Station.
The project will replace outdated court facilities currently located at 38 Alexander Street.
Attorney-General Guy Barnett said the completion of enabling works are an important milestone for the development.

“The enabling works have supported local jobs and our economy,” Barnett said.
“We have ticked off another milestone on-time and on-budget, and now we will continue the tender process to construct the new complex.”

The project has gained momentum in recent months, with development approval secured and the Request for Tender now open for submissions.
“The momentum is building on what will be a key piece of infrastructure for communities across the North West.”
