Plans for a new Mood Food outlet and petrol station with almost a dozen pumps have been lodged for an empty site near Hobart Airport.

Bennett’s Petroleum is looking to expand their Mood Food network with the acquisition of the site, formerly occupied by a storage facility, in Cambridge.

The proposed store would join other Mood Food outlets in Huonville, Sandy Bay Claremont, Rokeby, Kempton, New Norfolk and Launceston.

Designs lodged with the Clarence City Council for 259 Kennedy Drive feature 11 fuel pumps, a drive-thru Mood Food and “Flight Deck” viewing platform.

Offering a panoramic view over Cambridge Airport towards the Richmond area, the world-first Mood Food viewing platform will feature both covered and outdoor seating areas to watch aircraft arrive and depart.

The development would replace the existing Ampol pumps at the neighbouring site and become the third petrol station in the area, alongside BP and Shell.

Representations are open with the council until March 21.
